I went to the Impressions Gallery in Bradford to look at an exhibition called 'Through Our Lens: growing up with Covid-19. I thought it was really interesting to see the world through the eyes of others during Covid-19. This exhibition includes work of Bradford based artists between the ages of 12 and 20. I think it's interesting how only young peoples work is showcased in this space. It shows adults what covid is like for younger people because I can imagine adults and teens have had a very different experience. Some of the work here I related to more and I think thats why this exhibition works really well. Theres so many peoples work that the viewers can relate to eat least one image.
A couple of images that stood out to me were photos taken by Chester Jones, aged 15, which he named 'self portrait'.
Not only are these images of a good quality and technically a strong photo, but the feel of these images really connects to the covid-19 theme. Chester Jones has been able to capture a feeling in an image, the way in both images you can see the people outside but still close to the indoors shows how people crave the outside even though we were all stuck inside during lockdown.
Overall, this exhibition was really interesting to walk though and hopefully this body of work is just a memory and we wont have to relive this time in out lives.
