Alec Aarons

Updated: May 1, 2022

Today at university Alec Aarons came in to talk to us about types of printing as it is coming up to my deadlines, and soon we will all be printing for the exhibition. Alec Aarons is a former student at the same university as me, The University of Huddersfield. He graduated in 2018 so he's had a few years in the industry. He took over a company called CC Imagery and is trying his best to make the company sustainable and environmentally friendly. The paper he prints on is made out of bamboo and even the plastic wallets he uses are decomposable.

He spoke to us about types of printing and what would be best. He also taught us how to make sure the image will print well, the file size of the image should be 300 dpi ideally. He's worked closely with Thomas Duffield and printed some of his work in different ways to see the difference in the print quality.

This is an image taken by Thomas Duffield the image on the left is c type and the right is g clay, you can instantly see the difference in quality the c type is more dull and you can't see the detail as much. Alec Aarons prefers printing on g clay and you can see why. The good things about the c type is the tonal quality, you can see more depth in the image compared to the g clay.

The company originally wasn't his so now he has taken over he's renaming it Fresh Aire. He wants to make it his own and more approachable.
