I am currently in my final year at The University of Huddersfield doing a degree in Photography. As it's my final year I have a few options of what to do after University. Here are my choices :
Go straight into work
Going straight into work would be a good way for me to gain experience in the photography industry whilst making money. I am open to multiple types of photography, from working in product photography in a studio, to photographing for events. Even being a freelance photographer and doing any jobs that come my way could be exciting. However, whether I'm ready for that, I'm not sure.
Masters Degree
Doing a masters degree is one of my other options, being able to learn more before going into full time work will help me to grow as a photographer. Also, my current project is about my family achieves and the memories we have together, and I would really like to explore where this project is going, even after I finish my Bachelors Degree. Doing a Masters will enable me to expand this project and spend time perfecting my skills.
Travelling
My final option for after University is to go Travelling, with my camera of course, and capture the journey I have and the people I meet along the way. I think this would be a great option for me to really experience life to the fullest. I want to capture the amazing landscapes and almost blog my whole journey. Then after travelling I can have all these images as part of my portfolio to help me get work back in the UK.
Overall, university has really helped me to develop many skills which will enable me to have options and ensure I get to do what I want in the future. For example, expanding on my photography skills, learning how to use software such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom and Capture one. The main one for me was learning how to make a website which I didn't think I'd enjoy as much as I did. Thankfully, university has left me with all these skills and opportunities for my future.
